SONGS FOR AFTER A WAR

With a superb and at times moving montage including still photos, archive footage, films, adverts and popular songs from the time, this is an incisive look at the war and, mostly, at post-war daily and public life.

Though the film was forbidden a release by state censorship until the death of the dictator, private screenings were organised for Franco, government personnel and family members to watch the film.

The film uses a complex montage technique to create new meanings, going beyond the conventions of the so called documentary cinema.
